Radiation Medicine
I aim to provide patients with world-class cancer care using cutting-edge technology and practices. Collaborating with Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists, Registered Nurses, and Dosimetrists, we strive to tailor treatments to each person’s individual needs, with both curative and palliative intent. I am experienced in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) with RapidArc, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) including cone beam CT scanning (CBCT). Additionally, I deploy electron beam therapy, 3D-conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), and custom bolus creation using the Adaptiiv medical 3D printing platform in the course of providing care. I am certified to prescribe the Optune TTF device for GBM and the Optune Lua™ TTF device for mesothelioma. Additionally, I have significant experience using radiotherapy to treat a variety of benign and non-malignant conditions including osteoarthritis, keloids, and gynecomastia.
Education and Training
I attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University) where I was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In addition to my medical doctorate, I also received my Ph.D. in the Department of Radiation Oncology where I conducted research on genomic integrity and novel radiosensitizing agents. I was awarded an F30 Fellowship for this work from the National Cancer Institute. I went on to the Yale School of Medicine to complete my internship in Internal Medicine as well as my residency in Radiation Oncology (Therapeutic Radiology). While at Yale, I completed the B. Leonard Holman Pathway, where I conducted postdoctoral research on nanoparticle-encapsulated radiosensitizing pharmaceuticals, for which I was awarded an ASTRO Seed Grant. I am board certified in Radiation Oncology through the American Board of Radiology.
Advancing Knowledge
I have been involved in biomedical research for nearly two decades. I have published numerous manuscripts, book chapters, review articles, and invited editorials. I am a peer reviewer for multiple scientific journals across several disciplines. My work has been cited hundreds of times by physicians and scientists across the world.
